Maybe it’s more common in new cars than I realized, but the new Ram and Wrangler are the first two vehicles I’ve seen with USB Type-C ports. Being an Android user, I find this very exciting. Are there many other cars on the market OPPO knows of with USB Type-C?

I just hope they use the right resistors for USB-PD... maybe Benson can test it.
This is FCA after all.

Built-in USB Type C-PD would be awe-some (more hyph-ens).

I’ve never bothered to charge my phone with a car’s built-in USB port because said built-in USB port inevitably does not support fast charging.

The resistor issues you are hearing about are with cheap cables. USB-C requires different resistors between different pins on the connector to control the different features of USB-C (i.e a cable with a USB A connector on the other end has different resistors than a cable with a Display Port connector on the other end. A USB-C to USB-C cable doesn’t need internal resistors and is just pin matched from one end to the other). Some cheap cables are built without the resistors to save a few bucks. You can to that with the old USB standards but not with USB C. Unless you are buying cheap cables from some no name company it isn’t going to be a problem. USB-PD compatibility on the other hand is determined by the design of the supply circuit to handle dynamically changing voltage and current supply to match device requests.

AFAIK, there are only two other USDM vehicles with USB Type-C ports, and both are from GM. The redesigned GMC Terrain has a Type-C port (though the redesigned Equinox doesn’t), and the refreshed 2018 Cadillac XTS also has one.
